During the 75th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the country from the Red Fort’s ramparts.The Prime Minister emphasised that India must continue to make fresh commitments over the next 25 years. He also praised the medical community’s efforts to combat the pandemic.

The following are the key points from his speech:

1.’Sabka Prayas’ is helping to develop a new India alongside ‘Sabka Saath,Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas.’

2. A National Hydrogen Mission to make India energy self-sufficient and a green hydrogen export hub.

3. Close the gap between the lifestyles of those in villages and those in cities.

4. Within two years of the ‘Jal Jeevan Mission,’ almost 4.5 million new homes had access to piped water.

5. The ‘Gatishakti’ initiative, worth Rs 100 lakh crore, would be launched to promote holistic development.

6 Reservation for dalits, STs, backwards, and general category poor is required; hand-holding of underprivileged populations is required.

7. The development of J&K is obvious on the ground; a delimitation effort is underway, and preparations for assembly elections are underway.

8. The government will offer nutritious rice to the underprivileged, and by 2024, all rice provided under any scheme would be fortified.

9. India must continue to make new commitments for the next 25 years.

10. Our communities are undergoing significant transformations, and digital businesses are being nurtured in them as well.

11. In addition to modern infrastructure, India must take a holistic approach to infrastructure development.

12. We’ll have to collaborate to create world-class items employing cutting-edge technology and new technology.

13. A campaign to evaluate regulations and processes and eliminate any that are obstructive.

HISTORY OF INDEPENDENCE DAY :

Following their victory at the Battle of Plassey in 1757, the British took control of India and oppressed the country for the next 200 years.

Following the Indian rebellion of 1857, the East India Company ruled India for 100 years before being replaced by direct British rule.

The country experienced tremendous discontent and revolts as a result of British control.

Since then, India’s history has been marked by a series of retaliations and independence movements that ultimately forced the British colonizers out.

The British Parliament had granted Lord Mountbatten until June 30, 1948 to relinquish the power. In the words of C Rajagopal achari, “there would have been no power left to transfer” if he had waited until June 1948. As a result, Mountbatten pushed the date forward to August 1947.

Independence Day also marks the 50th anniversary of the country’s partition on communal lines, which resulted in tremendous slaughter, migration, and unrest.

Independence Day is noteworthy because it honors the bravery and spirit of the freedom warriors who battled for the country’s independence from British domination.
