Theme of world information day:-
The theme for this day is Action for Sustainable Development Goals. Every year on October 24, the United Nations observes World Development Information Day.The United Nations General Assembly established World Development Information Day in 1972 to promote awareness about development issues and to strengthen efforts to solve them via increased international collaboration.
The United Nations General Assembly decided in 1972 to establish a World Development Information Day on October 24, coinciding with United Nations Day, with the goal of drawing the attention of world public opinion each year to development problems and the importance of strengthening international cooperation to solve them. In addition, the day was commemorated as the date on which the International Development Strategy for the Second Nations Development Decade was approved in 1970.
Significance and history:-
The primary goal of this day is to disseminate information and mobilise public opinion in order to attract attention to and raise awareness of development-related issues, while also boosting efforts in the sphere of international cooperation for growth and development.
Another goal of the event is to convey to the general public why it is critical to strengthen international cooperation in order to find solutions to these problems.
The assembly also determined that the day would coincide with Unite
d Nations Day in order to highlight the importance of development in the UN’s operations. Many activities in recent years have interpreted the day’s title in slightly different ways. These have focused on the role that current information technologies, such as the Internet and digitally free mobile phones, can play in alerting people and finding answers to trade and develpment concerns.One of World Development Information Day’s explicit goals was to inform and motivate young people, and this adjustment may serve to advance that goal.
