The Lord entered the river and Kalia (serpent) attacked him. Krsna seized the tail of the serpent, dragged it to the surface of the river and defeated it. At that time, Kalia realized that Krishna was not an ordinary child, but an incarnation of King Vishna. He asked for forgiveness and promised not to torture anyone again. Therefore, this festival also marks the victory of justice over evil.
