On June 28, 1971, in Pretoria, South Africa, Elon Reeve Musk was born. He was born to a South African father Errol Musk and a Canadian mother Maye Musk. Musk was 17 years old when he sought for a Canadian passport and relocated to Saskatchewan, Canada, to avoid serving in the South African military. Musk stayed in South Africa until 1989.
