Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over the 38th PRAGATI meeting, which reviewed a variety of national and state government projects, complaints, and programs. PROACTIVE GOVERNANCE AND TIMELY IMPLEMENTATION is the acronym for PROACTIVE GOVERNANCE AND TIMELY IMPLEMENTATION. Eight projects with a total cost of about Rs 50,000 crore were discussed at the conference. In the past 37 PRAGATI sessions, 297 projects totaling Rs. 14.39 lakh crore were examined.
ABOUT THE PRAGATI: PM MODI
PRAGATI is an ambitious multi-purpose and multi-modal platform, launched in March 2015 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a unique integrating and interactive platform, aimed at addressing common man’s grievances while simultaneously monitoring and reviewing important government of India and state government programs and projects.
Through monthly reviews held under the direct supervision of the prime minister, PRAGATI, or Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation, aims to remove bottlenecks in key development projects of the central and state governments in sectors such as railways, national highways, power, and civil aviation.
According to several of them, the initiative’s main selling point is also a huge roadblock in performing ongoing evaluations. Because of the prime minister’s direct involvement, meetings suffer when he is away on election campaigning,
for example, ThePrint reached out to Dhiraj Singh, the PMO’s official spokeswoman, through phone and email to inquire about the meetings’ infrequency and if alternate review programmes were un place. The questions would be forwarded to the appropriate officials, according to Singh. However, until the publication of this report, no reaction had been received.
Some government officials with knowledge of PRAGATI’s inner workings spoke on the condition of anonymity.
