Make a firm decision. Dieters, take note! Girl Scouts are everywhere, and they’re all trying to sell you kryptonite, which is to say their most delectable cookies. We can all agree that Girl Scout cookies make the world go round, whether your favourite flavour is minty Thin Mints or gooey Tagalongs. They deserve a vacation because they’re so good. And they do have one… sort of. It’s National Girl Scout Day on March 12th, so get ready to party! National Girl Scout Day, which falls during Girl Scout Week, remembers the first Girl Scout meeting. Juliette “Daisy” Gordon Low, of Savannah, Georgia, arranged the meeting in 1912. And the Girl Scouts have only gotten bigger since then! So grab a cookie (or a dozen) and prepare to party.
NATIONAL GIRL SCOUT DAY ACTIVITIES
1. Purchase some cookies
Yes, you read that correctly. We’re providing you with the justification you’ve been waiting for to go out and buy those cookies! 100% of the proceeds from cookie sales are reinvested in the charity. Furthermore, all of your money stays in the community. Instead of funding Girl Scouts HQ, your money will go toward directly supporting your community’s growth. That, in our opinion, is really fantastic!
2. Make a Girl Scout badge of your own design
Okay, so you’re definitely too old to join the Girl Scouts (and if you aren’t, we hope you’re under parental supervision when accessing the internet). You can, however, do the next best thing and make your own badges. Set goals for yourself, and when you achieve them, reward yourself with badges! Have you always wanted to go on a new hike but couldn’t seem to get motivated? Make a badge for a wilderness explorer! Although we’re exaggerating, you get the idea.
3. Spend time with a Girl Scout you like
A Girl Scout is someone we all know. Maybe it’s your tiny cousin, or maybe it’s your daughter. Spend some time with them this National Girl Scout Day, in either case and let them know how much they are cherished and respected. Inform them that they are about to alter the world! Girl Scouts is all about empowering girls, and you can help them out on March 12th.

WHY GIRL SCOUT DAY IS MANDATORY TO CELEBRATE
1. Girl Scouts empowers young women
“[Build] girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place,” says the Girl Scout mission. How could we not admire a group that aims to empower young women? Girl Scouts is working to ensure that the future generation is both intelligent and kind. “Who runs the world?” Queen Bey asks, better than we could. Girls!”
2. Darn it, those cookies are excellent
Please pardon our French, but Girl Scout cookies make us very happy. We’ve begun little fights with our buddies about which flavours are the best. And it’s all thanks to those delectable minty, chocolatey, peanut-buttery delights. We can’t get enough of them. We don’t want to put them down! If it means we can eat large numbers of these delicious cookies, we’ll gladly give up being healthy or remaining in shape. Plus, isn’t having a hot body overrated…?
3. They told us how to make lanyards for everyone we know
Let’s be honest: without a Girl Scout, none of us would know how to create lanyards. A Girl Scout taught you how to make your first lanyard, whether it was at summer camp or on the playground at elementary school. We’re not sure why all Girl Scouts manufacture lanyards, but we’ve all benefited from them. What would life be like if there were no lanyards? At the very least, backpack zippers would look less swanky. Thank you very much, Girl Scouts.
