Zachary Mowel, 28, has been arrested in Tennessee for allegedly stabbing his wife, Tess Trotter, and setting her on fire. The attack occurred in front of their young children who witnessed the horrific event.

Responding authorities found Tess severely injured with multiple stab wounds and transported her to the hospital. Two Good Samaritans who were in the area noticed the fire and rescued Tess, potentially saving her life.

Tess suffered serious injuries including paralysis from the waist down, third-degree burns, broken ribs, and nine stab wounds. Mowel confessed to the crime, and has been charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated arson, aggravated assault, and domestic assault.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family with Tess’s medical expenses.
