Three workers tragically died from asphyxiation while working in an illegal coal mine in Gujarat’s Surendranagar district. The incident occurred on Saturday near Bhet village when the men were digging a well without proper safety equipment. The police have registered a case against four individuals for culpable homicide not amounting to murder. The deceased were identified as Lakshman Dabhi (35), Khodabhai Makwana (32), and Viram Keraliya (35). They were employed by the accused who failed to provide them with helmets, masks, or other safety gear. As a result, the workers inhaled poisonous gas from the well, leading to their deaths. The authorities are currently seeking the accused individuals and the bodies of the victims have been sent for post-mortem examination. This incident highlights the dangers of illegal mining operations and the importance of prioritizing worker safety.
