Indore, Madhya Pradesh, has broken the world record for the most trees planted in a 24-hour period by planting over 1.1 million saplings. This accomplishment solidifies Indore’s reputation as India’s cleanest city and demonstrates a strong commitment to environmental sustainability.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav received the official certificate from Guinness World Records. He praised the citizens of Indore for their participation in the plantation drive and their dedication to environmental conservation. He also attributed the success to the inspiration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the support of Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah.
The previous record was held by Assam, where 926,000 saplings were planted in a single day. The plantation drive in Indore was organized across 9 zones and 100 sub-zones and monitored by 100 cameras. The administration spent 46 days preparing for the event.
Urban Administration Minister Kailash Vijayavargiya and Indore Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava commended the citizens, BSF soldiers, and over 200 social, educational, religious, and business organizations who participated in the plantation drive. They emphasized the dedication and hard work that went into achieving this milestone.
