Justice Kohli, the ninth woman judge in the Supreme Court’s history, emphasized the need for women judges to be resilient due to the difficulties they encounter. She described the obstacles women lawyers face, including balancing family responsibilities and the lack of resources for first-generation lawyers.
Despite these challenges, she emphasized the importance of professionalism and impartiality in the judiciary. She also encouraged young lawyers to remain engaged in their legal studies and to stay informed about current issues.
Justice Kohli expressed confidence in the Supreme Court’s commitment to justice, acknowledging that judges are human and can make mistakes. She praised the effectiveness of virtual hearings in making justice more accessible to the public. While she acknowledged the demands of her career, she also shared her personal interests, including writing poetry and gardening, demonstrating her well-rounded life beyond her judicial duties.
