The Indian government has allocated a significant amount of funding for education, employment, and skill development in the current fiscal year, totaling 1.48 lakh crore rupees. The Department of School Education and Literacy received the largest share, with a budget of 73,498 crore rupees, a 19.56% increase compared to the previous year.
Key autonomous bodies like Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) have also received substantial funding increases, with budgets of 9,302 crore rupees and 5,800 crore rupees respectively.
Flagship educational schemes have witnessed substantial budget boosts, with Samagra Shiksha, PMPOSHAN, and PM-SHRI receiving increased allocations of 4,500 crore rupees, 2,467 crore rupees, and 3,250 crore rupees respectively.
The Department of Higher Education received a total of 47,619.77 crore rupees, reflecting a 7.99% increase from the previous year. Central universities saw a significant boost in funding, with a budget of 15,928 crore rupees, an increase of 4,314.03 crore rupees compared to the previous year.
Other institutions like Deemed Universities, IITs, NITs, IISERs, and IISc have also received increased funding compared to the previous year. The government has also allocated 200 crore rupees for the ‘Multidisciplinary Education and Research Improvement in Technical Education EAP (MERITE)’ scheme, a 100% increase compared to the previous year.
