India’s National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) is demanding answers from Netflix. The commission alleges that Netflix’s platform allows minors access to sexually explicit content, violating India’s child protection laws. NCPCR has summoned Netflix officials to appear next Monday to explain their actions.
The commission previously contacted Netflix about this issue in June, but received no response. They are now taking a stronger stance, citing specific violations of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Netflix has not yet commented on the matter.
