Bharti Airtel Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Bharti Enterprises, has launched a merit-based scholarship program to support deserving students, particularly girls, pursuing technology-related engineering courses. This initiative, coinciding with the Foundation’s 25th anniversary, aims to remove financial barriers for students from diverse backgrounds, especially those from disadvantaged communities.
The “Bharti Airtel Scholarship Program” will cover 100% of college fees and provide a laptop to students pursuing four or five-year undergraduate or integrated programs in top engineering colleges across India, including IITs. The program, which will initially support 250 students, will be scaled up to reach 4,000 students in the future, with an annual budget of Rs 100 crore.
Students with an annual family income not exceeding Rs 8.5 lacs are eligible for the scholarship. The program focuses on fields like electronics and communication, telecom, information technology, computer sciences, data sciences, and emerging technologies such as AI, IoT, AR/VR, machine learning, and robotics. Eligible students will also receive hostel and mess fees upon request.
Rakesh Bharti Mittal, Vice Chairman of Bharti Enterprises and Co-Chairman of Bharti Airtel Foundation, emphasized the Foundation’s commitment to empowering students from all backgrounds to achieve academic excellence and pursue their aspirations. He believes that education is vital for societal progress and economic empowerment.
