A Navy speedboat, undergoing engine trials near Mumbai, lost control and collided with a passenger ferry, the Neel Kamal. The accident, which occurred around 4 pm, resulted in 13 deaths, including a Navy personnel and two from the boat’s manufacturer. Video footage shows the speedboat maneuvering erratically before the collision. The ferry, carrying 110 passengers, was traveling between the Gateway of India and Elephanta Island. A large-scale rescue operation involving the Navy, Coast Guard, police, and local fishermen utilized boats and helicopters to save survivors. Initial reports suggested the boat was sinking, but the cause of the engine failure remains under investigation.
