A tragic fire in Kuwait City claimed the lives of an Indian couple and their two children. The fire, caused by a short circuit in their air conditioner, occurred on Friday night shortly after the family returned from a vacation in Kerala.
The victims, identified as Mathews Mulackal, his wife Lini Abraham, and their two children, all from Neerattupuram in Alappuzha, India, suffocated to death in their second-floor apartment in Abbasiya.
Mathews worked at Reuters, while Lini was a staff nurse at Adan Hospital. Their children attended Bhavans School in Kuwait. The family had been living in Kuwait for 15 years.
The Indian Embassy in Kuwait is in contact with the family in Kerala and will facilitate the repatriation of the bodies. This incident follows a recent fire in a labor accommodation that tragically killed 45 Indians.
