A young member of the YSR Congress Party’s youth wing, Sheikh Rasheed, was murdered in Palnadu district, Andhra Pradesh. The attack, which occurred in the middle of a busy road, was caught on camera. Sheikh Jilani, wielding a machete, severed Rasheed’s hands and then fatally attacked his neck.
Police investigations suggest that the murder stemmed from personal rivalry, not political motivations. As a precaution, strict restrictions have been imposed in Vinukonda town to prevent unrest. The police chief has warned that any attempt to disrupt peace will be dealt with severely. The investigation is ongoing.
