A distressed farmer, Shankarlal, from Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh, desperately sought help from the Collectorate office after being harassed by a local mafia who illegally occupied his land. Despite repeated complaints, no action was taken. Shankarlal resorted to rolling on the floor of the Collectorate office to draw attention to his plight.
He accused the local administration of corruption and negligence, claiming that mistakes by the Tehsildar always resulted in farmers suffering.
The District Magistrate, Dilip Yadav, claimed that all cases brought to the public hearing were addressed immediately. He stated that the issues of many individuals were heard and resolved on Tuesday, and cases from previous hearings were reviewed.
However, the administration clarified that Shankarlal and his family still possess the disputed land. The issue stems from a sale of half the land to Ashwin in 2010. While the transfer was approved, the buyers have not taken possession due to the unwillingness of some family members to relinquish the land.
