The Delhi Police has formally accused Bibhav Kumar, an aide to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, of assaulting AAP MP Swati Maliwal. The charge sheet, which includes statements from 50 witnesses, spans over 500 pages and alleges that Kumar assaulted Maliwal at the chief minister’s residence on May 13th.
The charges against Kumar include causing disappearance of evidence, attempted culpable homicide, wrongful restraint, assault with intent to outrage modesty, assault with intent to disrobe, criminal intimidation, and insult to a woman’s modesty.
After being arrested on May 18th, Kumar’s judicial custody was extended until July 30th. The Delhi High Court denied him bail citing his potential influence over witnesses and evidence.
