A 64-year-old woman in Thailand named Arom was attacked by a large python while doing dishes at her home. The python, estimated to be 13-16 feet long, wrapped itself around her and squeezed her tightly. Despite her efforts to free herself and calls for help, she was trapped for two hours.
Eventually, a neighbor heard her cries and alerted the police. Officers arrived and used a crowbar to force the python to release its grip. Arom suffered bites and was treated for her injuries. The python, however, escaped and was not captured.
While pythons are non-venomous and kill by constriction, they can still be dangerous. This incident highlights the potential dangers of encountering large snakes, as deaths by python attacks have been reported in Indonesia.
