Manorama Khedkar, the mother of IAS probationer Puja Khedkar, has been sent to judicial custody for 14 days in connection with a case involving the alleged threat of a farmer with a gun. This incident reportedly took place in June of last year due to a land dispute.
Manorama was arrested in Raigad district where she was hiding and was brought before a magistrate. The prosecution claimed that she, along with her husband and others, threatened the complainant with a gun and even pointed it at their head, implying an attempt to shoot.
Adding to the controversy, a company linked to Manorama, ThermoVerita, has been sealed by the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) due to unpaid taxes amounting to ₹2.77 lakh. This company’s address was used by Puja Khedkar to obtain a disability certificate.
The PCMC explained that ThermoVerita had outstanding property tax for two years, including the current year, and that attempts to collect the dues through notices and water disconnection had failed.
