Akshay Kumar’s “Sarfira,” the Hindi remake of the award-winning Tamil film “Soorarai Pottru,” earned approximately ₹5.10 crore on its third day in Indian theaters, despite a slow start. The film, which shares the box office with Kamal Haasan’s “Indian 2,” achieved a 26.46% Hindi occupancy on July 14.
“Sarfira” received enthusiastic support from Suriya and Jyotika, the stars of the original film. Suriya praised Akshay Kumar’s performance and expressed gratitude for choosing “Sarfira” for his 150th film. He also acknowledged director Sudha Kongara’s dedication to the project and praised the performances of Radhikka Madan and Paresh Rawal.
Film critic Saibal Chatterjee gave the film a mixed review, awarding it 2 out of 5 stars. He noted that while Akshay Kumar delivers a more substantial performance than in some recent films, the film has moments of overacting.
